The aim of the SLABO is to promote the development of Biomaterials and Artificial Organs in Latin America. Since its foundation, in 1998, the Society is growing. In 2000 and in 2003, the SLABO published  special issues in the Artificial Organs (indexed scientific journal) and now is participation in the World Forum of Biomaterials.

SLABO congregates researchers from Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Cuba, Italy, Mexico, Peru, Portugal, Spain, United States and Venezuela.
